FoodBoss, the world’s largest online food ordering search engine that allows users to find the best delivery deal across multiple food delivery services, has secured more than $2 million in funding led by Cleveland Avenue LLC, the venture capital firm founded by Don Thompson, former President and CEO of McDonald’s Corporation.
FoodBoss was co-founded by Michael DiBenedetto who came up with the concept when he was looking to order food from a restaurant, but did not know where to order delivery from. Overwhelmed by the vast amounts of conflicting and competing information available, DiBenedetto was frustrated. “I wondered whether it would have been faster to just run out of my apartment and grab a bite to eat. I literally said, ‘there should be a search engine for all this stuff like there is for travel,’ and as soon as the words came out of my mouth, the concept was born.”
FoodBoss’ aim is to simplify the food delivery experience for consumers. By aggregating all the available information about food delivery fees, wait times, and options onto one website and app, their hope is to provide consumers with complete information and streamline the online ordering process. Checking between multiple apps and websites to figure out which delivery service is cheaper when or from where is a chore, and FoodBoss has found that by delivering on their promise to provide complete information, consumers who visit to their site are much more likely to actually complete an order with one of their partner services.
“Cleveland Avenue brings a tremendous amount of expertise and industry knowledge,” DiBenedetto said, adding that the firm’s leaders, including Thompson, know what the food industry needs.
FoodBoss aims to eliminate confusion for consumers who might not know which of the numerous services delivers food from a particular restaurant.
