After driving by it for so many years, I finally tried this place and I wasn't disappointed. It's simple and casual but the food and service is great. The staff and our server were very friendly and inviting. Our server was helpful in suggesting menu options and the food came out very quickly.
We ordered the Fontina Mushroom Pizza and Spinach Salad. The pizza was very flavorful and full - we added sausage to ours as it was recommended - perfect add on. A little too many mushrooms but overall, still tasty. The spinach salad was fresh and clean.
Would definitely come back in the future.

We have been to Varasano's several times and they always have good food and good service. We last went for Sunday brunch and it was a solid choice. I appreciate the creativity of their menu. After all, who puts dates and walnuts on a pizza? Well, it was a great brunch choice. Their Italian Bacon appetizer is also very good.
If you have a big crowd, be sure to make a reservation, but we've never had a problem just showing up and dining with a smaller party. However, with them being on OpenTable, better safe than sorry and make a reservation anyhow.

Coming from the Philly area, I've eaten at Varasano's a number of times, and it is -- by far -- the best pizza in the Southeast, on par with the very top South Philly places! The owner is on the premises most of the time and he'll gladly make any pizza your heart desires, so you'll never go away hungry. If you give them 48 hours' notice (hence it's not on the menu), they'll even make a Sicilian pizza for you, with their wonderful sourdough crust.
What's more, unlike other pizzarias, their salads and Italian dishes are also outstanding, because the owner has sourced top-notch ingredients, many flown in from Italy: Order their "Salumi" (Italian cold cut) platter where you can taste the various sliced salumi toppings arranged on a plate, served with a small salad in the center. [Being a Philly boy, I'd kill for a salumi hoagie or Nana's meat ball sandwich on a sourdough roll!]
Their pasta dishes are good but the star is the pizza! I'm generally not a tiramisu (or dessert) fan; but their tiramisu is -- by far -- the only one I'll ever eat.
Service is fantastic. If it's crowded I'll eat at the bar, where bartenders Adam and Andrew are always on top of things, bringing out the dishes as soon as they are prepared (which rarely happens at other crowded restaurants). Also, if it's a frigid day, you can eat at the pizza bar, about 10 feet from his 700° pizza oven, where you'll quickly warm up. What's more, you can see the kitchen from there, and you'll notice (unlike many eateries) it's spotlessly clean.
All-in-all, if you are looking for a nice casual meal, Varasano's will never let you down!
