Pizza Whirl has one of the higher star ratings for a pizza restaurant in the city. That said, it’s important to remember this is not a high class eatery. A small counter order shop, this is a great late night pizza location when you’re hungry for some pie at an odd hour or looking for a meal after leaving a bar.

After a long day at work and being out on the town, pizza was the perfect way to end the evening! While out in OC, Pizza Whirl was right there and open late, and who can turn down pizza? My friend and I were greeted by smiling faces behind the counter, as we walked in. Fresh dough was made in front of us, a multitude of ingredients to be loaded on the pizza, what more could we have wanted! Looking at their menu, their signature pies ranged from $12 - $15, and we decided up Frank's BBQ pizza. As our first request, we requested to have a bit of red sauce as the base, as we thought the BBQ sauce would have been overpowering as the full base sauce. My friend didn't like onions, so we had onion on my half and sliced grape tomatoes added on the other side. And why not throw in some jumbo wings - make it garlic parm flavored please! The pizza was perfect for 2 people and the garlic parm wings had grated parmesan cheese sprinkled on top! What a different and pleasant surprise! Salena, who cashed our order out, was extremely pleasant to be around and throughout our whole time at Pizza Whirl! Very friendly employees and all the foods are extremely fresh and made upon order. It's nice to have a place that serves fresh food and open late (until 3 am) on Friday and Saturday! Check Pizza Whirl out the next time you are in OHC!
This was simply a fantastic experience my very last visit, and each one before have been great as well. Let me tell you how warm and fuzzy I felt after going here on a Friday night post drinks with friends. You can imagine the wavelengths of my brain are just popping off the charts with the desire for pizza after a few vodka sodas. Like, stop with the clear calorie free liquid, I need SUBSTANCE. Well, pizza lovers of America, substance is what I received! First I would just like to point out how absolutely charming and caring and thoughtful the entire staff was, from those working on our pizza to Salena, the owner's daughter, who cashed us out. She was super bubbly and accommodating and literally made us feel so at home. She even brought her Pops out to say hello! It was so heart warming to hear about how they started this business on a whim and also how much they truly care about their customer feedback. So seriously, if something is up, just let 'em know! Now on to the meaty part of this review... no pun intended... or was it? They had some garlic parm wings that just could not be refused. I gave the menu a gander and said, while yes I am definitely here for pizza... who can say no to wings? They were cooked to the perfect crispy texture, lathered in a delicious butter garlic sauce and sprinkled with the best of the best you guys, fresh parm! Oh my gorsh. Get in my BELLY! The pizza was awesome too. We got the Frank's BBQ minus some onions on my end which I subbed for grape tomatoes and it turned out so freaking good. And this wasn't just buzzed Danielle talking. I heated this up for lunch the next day and was just as pleased. As for pricing, you guys, less than $10 for a good sized pie. Certainly filled up both my friend and I with food to spare. Without the wings we may have completed it on round 1, but what I'm saying is that for one person alone the portion is more than enough! Plus you get to see it made right there in front of you. I dig it. This place will spin you right round baby right round, like a record baby, right round, round round! They don't call it Pizza WHIRL for nothin'!
A friend and I were in the area and tried to go to another pizza spot that was closed. We decided to try Pizza Whirl because I was craving pizza. We didn't really know what to expect because of the mixed Yelp reviews. Two people were working inside. Both of them were very helpful and service was great! The space was clean and we were the only customers there on a slow, very cold Monday. We shared a mushroom pizza with added prosciutto and it was delicious! We weren't sure it would be enough food but it was perfect. The crust was thin, just the way I like it and held up to the toppings well. The flavors were well balanced. We were really happy we stopped by, especially since my friend lives in the area. She's added this place to her list of good eats.
