This is my favorite pizza place in Austin! Starting with the pizza itself, simply put, it is incredible. I have been to Desano a few times and have tried a few of their different pizzas - Diavola, Margheritta, and the Desano. I would have to say my favorite out of those would be the Desano but would recommend giving them all a try! Next, love the interior. Picnic table style seating which presents more of a family style dinner. I also appreciate the mopeds and bikes located inside to make it feel more like you are in Italy. Last, the owner is awesome. If you get the chance to speak with him, his name is Jimmy and is very friendly. He gave me and my friends a free sample of one of their sides which we really appreciated! Also, if you are from Atlanta, GA - Desano is actually the sister company of the famous Antico pizzeria! Note - they have fresh basil off to the side so be sure to get some! Overall, incredible Neapolitan style pizza. Would absolutely recommend going if you are ever wanting pizza and are near the North Austin area!

As someone who has spent some time in Italy and lived in Sicily for a short time, I have found it hard to fine true Italian pies. Desano imports all of their ingredients from Italy and even their pizza ovens come from Italy. That's nice and all but what does the pizza taste like?! As an Italian, mamas and chefs will tell you, "you don't actually need a lot of ingredients, you just need the right ingredients." We ordered a Blanca pie and I knew opening the box that this would be something new America hasn't offered me before. The smell was intoxicating and the edges had the perfect crispness. Upon lifting a slice I checked the bottom, again, up to par with a true Italian pizza. I did a small fold of the slice, brought it to my mouth, and tasted the sweetest flavors that brought me back to my days in Italy. Sure the prices for pizza are different, but everything else was perfect down to a T. I have no doubt that if you want to order it the American way with a bunch of toppings that it will taste amazing but if you're looking for a true Italian experience, you can enjoy a simpler pie and be blown away. We will be back over and over. I can't wait to try more of what DeSanos has to offer!

This place is pretty impressive on the inside. It's a large and open, family friendly pizza place and just has good vibes all around. The super friendly manager at the counter offered his suggestions for a good vegetarian option for me and my partner to share. You can see all the cooks behind the counter assemble and throw pizzas, cooking them in these massive gorgeous white wood fire ovens. Very cool! The food was so unexpectedly good. The verdura is a veggie pizza with no tomato sauce (and I thought what?!? No sauce on a pizza?!?) and it was excellent. Nothing like I had ever had before and the pizza was baked to a perfect crisp. The condiments bar has extra basil and grated garlic and I was so surprised at what a difference adding these made to the pizza!!! Especially the grated garlic, now I'm going to start putting raw garlic on my pizzas. Note that it can be loud in here as there are events that go on (kids party was going on when I went) and there is only one large echoey room. Also seating is cafeteria style with lots of large tables. Noticed several TVs with sports on. more of a community gathering, happy hour, family spot, or fun date place rather than an intimate date place or when you want to have privacy.
