Review 1:
This is my family's go-to spot for deep dish pizza and we've been coming here for the last ten years! They have the best pizza in the twin cities, hands down. The restaurant has a really cute, home-y vibe, and the staff are always attentive and caring. Whenever we come here, we always get a spinach and tomato deep dish pizza that usually takes about 30-45 minutes to make, but BOY is it worth the wait. It has an amazing, crispy, crust on the bottom, with a delicious, rich tomato sauce and a perfect ratio of cheese to sauce. Even the leftovers taste amazing, and we always order way too much so that we can bring pizza home. I'm not sure why this place has only 3 stars because they do pizza right. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a classic deep dish pizza from the Italian Pie Shoppe.

Didn't leave a fan, but didn't hate it either. A 4 for the jalapenos making our noses run. The caesar salad was a complete rip off. $7.00 for the smallest, chinsiest salad ever. There was hardly any lettuce in the to go box. Next time I'll buy that caesar in a bag and toss it myself. I feel robbed. The pizza was ok. J liked it, minus the really boring and flavorless crust. The crust was a real snoozer. The meat was good as were the mushrooms and jalapenos, but we created that flavor with the pick three option. Stuffed = sauce on top a thin layer of dough, ingredients below. I was thinking the crust might be stuffed, but the guy taking my order said it was sauce on top. I always thought that just meant deep dish. The sauce was kind of snoozerific too.It reminded me of ragu or prego thrown on top. Not sure we'll be rushing back. Delivery was not an option for us. I looked on their delivery map and we were not included.

As far as pizza goes in Minnesota, this is as good as it gets. There are two cities in the US that have outstanding pizza and which are the yardstick by which all other pizza should be judged. New York and especially Chicago are the center of Pizza excellence in the USA. The Italian Pie Shoppe got their recipe from Chicago and it is very characteristic of real pizza rather than the bland, ketchup-y tomato cheesecake that Minnesotans like to think is pizza. Real pizza is spicey. It is Italian food. Italians like spice. Minnesotans do not and complain if the food has the slightest zing to it. If you want real pizza, go here. If you're not man enough to eat anything spicier than lutefisk, then stay away. (Lutefisk, now there is a food that can really make you swear off eating.....). If you like real honest to goodness pizza, not the (bland and horrible) typical Minnesota tomato cheesecake, then Italian Pie Shoppe is the place to go in the Twin Cities. There really ought to be a law against calling most of what is advertised as "pizza" in Minnesota as the real thing. It's not. It's something else. It's like ketchup on mozzarella cheese baked into wonder bread. It's an abomination to those of us who were raised on the real thing. Thank God the Italian Pie Shoppe is here - a veritable oasis of real pizza in the land of lutefisk and butter and cheese. I grew up in Chicago and after living here since 1973, this is the closest I have had to real pizza. Pizza is the one thing I miss from Chicago and it's here at the Italian Pie Shoppe. It's good. Eat it and know pizza truth.
