Review 1:
I've officially been to ALL *two* of the Doughs in San Antonio!! Please hold your applause until after the review, thank you! While I prefer the Blanco Rd location because it's closer to my home (and I feel the pizza was baked better there), this location served us well. Parking was surprisingly easy in a public parking lot a couple of blocks away (those with DV plates park for free!). A quick walk to and fro on a balmy Thursday evening meant I could enjoy two slices of pizza with little guilt- not that I ever care enough to feel guilty, but if I did… Our party of 7 1/2 (we had a wee one with us) was seated quickly by a curt hostess. She offered no pleasantries or small talk, which was weird. Our server Isaiah was much more polite. He stayed on top of our drinks throughout the meal and offered a variety of menu items as suggestions to begin and end our meal with. Great music with ample Bob Marley selections sprinkled throughout the playlist. That's always worth a star in my book. My peach bellini was light on the wine (which, I mean, who's a fan of weak boozy drinks?), hubby ordered an ale and the kids ordered peach Italian sodas (free refills!). We started with Casa and Tuscan salads. Both were HUGE, entree size portions. I'd love it if they offered half portions as appetizers. My casa was dressed perfectly in a mild vinaigrette, but lacked a decent amount of the perfectly toasted croutons. I really enjoyed its pickled onions, though. For dinner, we enjoyed the pulled prosciutto and bacon jam pizzas. The downsides were the inconsistent toppings on the former and both pizzas had soggy crusts. They were more like naan than pizza dough, too. We shelled our $112 (tip included) for our party of four. Cheap? Inexpensive? Meh. I feel like it's on par with the area and the amount of food and drinks we ordered. Overall, if I'm in the area, I'll be glad to drop back in. Hopefully the hostess is having a better day.
Review 2:
This place has been on my list to try for quite some time. It's on a very nice spot near lots of places to visit. There is no parking lot for this place. You will have to park on the side of the road or pay at a public parking lot. It's across from la villita and a short walk from Bar America. The little building is super cute and the staff was very friendly. The glass of water is tall and heavy but refreshing. We ordered a Casa salad which was arugula, pickled red onions, cucumber, tomatoes and croutons with a vinaigrette dressing for $9. It's definitely large enough to split with someone else. We also got the daiquiri and the Bellini alcohol drinks which came in a long flute glass and $11 each. I was disappointed because I couldn't taste any alcohol. I basically got a sweet, creamy slush. All the pizzas on the menu are Large. The pizza we chose was the pulled prosciutto. My friend doesn't like green bell peppers and when we asked if those could be left off the waiter said it's premixed and they cannot. When the pizza came, it was NOT a large. It had to be a size medium which is between 8-10 inches and it was cut into 6 slices. It was thin, the crust and the taste were good but was it worth $22? No. I'm not saying the food was bad, it was good. Was it absolutely delicious? No. It was okay. I only had these three items so I'm not 100 percent sure if anything else was amazing but I felt like I was paying an inflated price for the taxes and rent.
Review 3:
Really freaking enjoyed Dough! Lol. Seriously from the moment you walk in, the decor, the atmosphere is super cool and inviting. Modern, Italian, home vibes. I went there with my mom and it's her first time in town so I saved this place hoping that it would be everything others rate it to be & it was! We sat on the patio and the first thing I noticed was that every chair had throws open them so other can cover their shoulders while eating, since it was nippy out. Our waiter got to us quickly and did a good job at paying attention to what we needed and getting our orders out to us quickly. I enjoyed an Italian lemon soda which was VEEERRRYYYY good! Not too sweet and very refreshing. Right up my alley. We decided to split a truffle Burrata and a margherita pizza. The Burrata was to DIE for. Made with truffle oil and cherry tomatoes w| balsamic. The Burrata had mascarpone cheese and was a nice creamy texture and rich flavor. The pizza was probably the best I've had in San Antonio since I've been here. Definitely going back! (Sorry didn't take pics of the pizza )
